Welcome Sarah Elizabeth Lauck!
Last Wednesday, March 14th at 12:02AM, my niece, Sarah Elizabeth Lauck, was born! (Only 3 minutes after my birthday!) My sister, Megan and her husband Austin (AJ), are the proud parents. Both mother and baby are doing well. Sarah weighed in at 6lbs. 3oz. and 19 inches long (she is small)—but her Dad is 6’4’’ tall, so she may not be so small for long. Sarah is the first grandchild for my parents, so this was quite the event for the Haskins/Lauck family. I am visiting St. Louis next week to meet the new arrival and very much looking forward to seeing her for the first time!! Please look on my photo gallery to view her album of pictures.
I will also be participating in several speaking engagements while I am in town. I will be talking with the St. Louis Triathlon Club on March 28th at 7:30PM at Maplewood Cycles. In addition, I will be speaking with the Rec-Plex Sharks Swimming Team at their annual banquet on April 3rd. I am very much looking forward to seeing my family, friends and getting the opportunity to speak at the various functions.
The Australia trip is going very well and hard to believe I have less than a week down under. I return back to the US on March 26th after the World Cup on March 25th. This week I am reducing my volume and intensity in training in preparation for the race. This is my first race of the year and a good time to test out my fitness at this point in the season. Sunday is the first race of a long season---but I am ready to get started!

The race begins 8:00PM CST (Australia is almost a day ahead of the US!). In Australia the women’s race begins at 11:00AM and the men’s race begins at 1:30PM. We race right in the heat of the day, so it will be warm---although we have had the opportunity to adjust to the weather here the past month. My husband will be racing in the elite age group race the same morning---we both are aiming for great starts to our 2007 season!!
